This is not the county’s website

This site is a community record of Hickman County public meetings and documents. It is not run by the county, and it is not the official record.

The point is simple: neighbors should be able to read what was said, find a topic later, and listen to the meeting when a recording exists. Official minutes, agendas, and votes still belong to the county offices that published them.

What you can do here

  • Read the meetings. Notes and recordings are grouped by board — commissioners and the other public bodies we cover.
  • Search the words, not just the title. On the home page, choose Full text and type a name, a road, or a phrase. The search looks through meeting notes, spoken text when we have it, and the readable text from attached packets.
  • Open the packet as text. Many agendas and packets start as scanned PDFs. We turn those pages into readable, searchable text and keep the original file next to it.
  • Keep a recording on this site. A meeting can be recorded in the browser, or someone can upload audio afterward. That audio is what the written notes are checked against.

How a meeting gets onto the page

  1. Someone records from this website, or uploads audio from a recorder.
  2. The speech is turned into written text.
  3. That text is arranged into a readable recap, with the full spoken text kept when we have it.
  4. Scanned packets can be turned into searchable text and attached as files.
  5. A person reviews the page and publishes it. Drafts stay private until then.

Computers help with the typing and the first pass of the notes. They miss things and they guess. When a wording matters — a dollar amount, a vote, a name — listen to the recording or check the county’s official minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official Hickman County website?

No. This is a community site. It is not run by the county. Board pages link to the official website when we have one.

Do I need an account to read meetings?

No. Published pages and search are open. An account is for residents who want downloads and other resident tools. Login uses an email link rather than a password.

What is the difference between the notes and the transcript?

The notes are the organized recap. The transcript is closer to the spoken words. When they disagree, prefer the recording.

What are the files under a meeting?

Usually the agenda or packet PDF, plus a text version of those pages, and sometimes a short description of the document.

How does search work?

Title looks at names on the list. Full text looks inside the notes, spoken text, and readable packet text. PDFs themselves are not searched; the text version is.

Can I record a meeting from this website?

Yes, from a browser, or by uploading audio later. That is how a lot of the audio on the site is captured. Publishing stays with the people who maintain the page.

Is a computer writing these notes?

A computer helps turn speech and scans into text and a first draft of the recap. A person publishes. Treat the notes as a guide, not as the official record.

Why do some notes say they may contain errors?

Because a first draft from a recording can mis-hear a name or skip a side comment. That warning is there on purpose.

Who decides what appears here?

The people who maintain this community site. The county does not run or approve these pages.
