Resolution 26-34

To name a county bridge in memory of John Elmer Dorton, Hickman County, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, a county legislative body has the duty to designate county bridges in the county and make annual updates of such designations; and

WHEREAS, the Hickman County Highway Commission has, at their regularly scheduled meeting on August 3, 2026, voted to accept the naming of the first county bridge on Blue Buck Creek Road over Blue Buck Creek in Hickman County; and

WHEREAS, the Hickman County Legislative Body is desirous of naming such bridge;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Hickman County Legislative Body, meeting in regular session this 24th day of August 2026, that:

SECTION 1: The following bridge is hereby named and shall be formally named: "John Elmer Dorton Memorial Bridge"

SECTION 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the public welfare requiring it.
